Made from 100% Recycled Chlorine-Free Paper
By choosing Seventh Generation Recycled Paper Towels, you’ll be making an important environmental difference immediately. These paper towels are not whitened with chlorine and are made from 100% recycled paper (80% post-consumer, 20% pre-consumer). Hypo-allergenic, unbleached, strong and absorbent, these towels will help you keep your home and the environment clean.
Post-consumer paper is paper that has been recycled at home or at the office. Buying post-consumer paper helps finish the job you started–of saving the earth’s natural resources, including trees, water, and energy. And using products made from post-consumer recycled materials helps reduce the need for virgin wood pulp, which means more trees are left standing. Trees naturally absorb carbon dioxide–a greenhouse gas that’s the primary contributor to global warming. In fact, a single tree, over its lifetime, absorbs about one tone of CO2. To put it another way, a ton of recycled paper saves seventeen trees.
If every household in the U.S. replaced just one roll of 120 sheet virgin fiber paper towels with 100% recycled ones, we could save: 1 million trees, 2.6 million cubic feet of landfill space (equal to over 3,800 full garbage trucks), 367 million gallons of water (a year’s supply for 2,800 families of four), and avoid 38,000 tons of pollution. And because these towels are unbleached and have not been treated with chlorine, you can safely compost them in your garden when you’re done using them.

User Ratings and Reviews
1 Star WORST paper towels
I ordered these because I appreciate the idea of using recycled paper, however, these are the absolutely worst paper towels I’ve ever tried. They are not very absorbent, so you wind up using a lot more than you would with any other brand. And you feel like you are just moving water around. And they are rough.
I was trying to be environmentally friendly, but it is not good for the environment that I had to use three to four paper towels in the place of one.
1 Star Lousy shipping
The box was left on my back porch in the rain with no bag over it. The entire thing fell apart when I tried to move it. This was after I happened to look out and see it, as no notice was left at the front door alerting me to its presence. There comes a point at which free shipping is not worth it.
And, did you know that the plastic they use to individually wrap the rolls isn’t waterproof? I DO.
I’m cancelling my regular order immediately. What a kick in the teeth.
4 Stars good alternative
I like buying products that is earth friendly and this is an OK product, just not as fluffy and absorbent as the regular store brands.
1 Star what green does not mean
I am very unhappy with Seventh Generation Paper products. I like that paper products decompose, but I would prefer that the paper starts to decompose after I use it. I have had problems with all of their paper products, especially the napkins. After I used Seventh Generation Napkins at a picnic, my hands and mouth were covered with small pieces of paper. Normally a picnic napkin will last the whole meal. A Seventh Generation napkin will not even survive one wipe. Maybe they accidently switched the toilet paper formula with the napkins. I have decided to stop using all Seventh Generation products to send the message that hiding under the umbrella “green” is not license to produce garbage.
4 Stars Wish I still used these
These are overall great – work well for most uses, can go in your compost bin after use if not used with chemicals, and are recycled. I agree with the reviewer who wishes they were scored like the Brawny towels. I rarely use these now though as we got cloth napkins, and use cloth rags for most cleaning, but if you like the convenience of paper they are very useful.
