3 Stars a bit dated but the advice is right on target
How would you like to save anywhere from 45% to 90% of costs on groceries on a consistent basis? How would you like to be able to walk into a grocery store with a $5.00 bill and come out with over $100.00 in groceries? Does this sound too fantastic to you? If it does, you need to read this book and practice the methods given.

Susan J. Samtur gives good advice on how one can save a tremendous amount of money on groceries and earn untaxed income through rebates. The advice she gives is nothing new but so few people follow it. Either out of laziness or skepticism, coupons are underused and misunderstood as are rebates or refunding. In her book Susan J. Samtur details how she is able to earn about $1500.00 a year through refunding and consistently saves between 30% and 45% off the regular price for groceries. She also explains how anyone can save as much or more than her through strategic couponing and refunding. She clears up many misconceptions and myths like “Discount stores are cheaper”, “store brands are cheaper”, “you don’t really save that much on coupons”.

In the age of the internet, some of the methods she mentions are more or less obsolete. On the other hand, she can and will save you a lot of money on groceries if you follow her advice. I’m living proof that her methods work because I’ve tried them and have been able to walk out of the grocery store paying a little over the sales tax on brand name products.

It is not just saving money…it turns you into a coupon addict, a money-saving freak!! Then you try to turn your friends and family on to it. I am currently starting a coupon club because I bought this book 9 years ago, I am now buying it againt to pass on the information to my club members (my book keeps getting passed around and never returns to me!)

Bob Strong has an engaging writing style along with practical experience making this a very solid, yet very friendly, book for readers.

4 Stars Practical Investment Management
This book appears to be one of the more practical and straightforward texts on investments that I have encountered. It introduces the reader to why people invest, how security markets function, what typical investment choices are available, and how they are valued.

The book is the right size (about 530 pages) to be covered in a one semester course on the fundamentals of investing. It provides a foundation for analyzing various securities, including bonds, stocks, convertible securities, and derivatives. In addition, the book provides an exposure to risk reduction techniques, such as portfolio diversification and hedging, that is important for investors in protecting their gains or reducing their potential losses.

However, the book is not without its flaws. The chapter on fundamental analysis (chapter 7) could be expanded to include a discussion of financial statements (i.e., the balance sheet and the income statement) and an addition of ratios related to debt management (i.e., debt-to-assets, debt-to-equity, times-interest-earned, etc.). These ratios would provide the investor more information regarding the risks that are inherent with the use of debt. In addition, the topic on duration in chapter 17 does not include a discussion on the purpose for obtaining the duration of a fixed income security, namely how the price of the security is affected by a change in market interest rates.

Despite these shortcomings, the book will make a fine required text for an introductory course on investment management at the undergrduate level.

This book is easy to read and interesting. The author makes investment principles incredibly easy to understand. I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn to basics of investments.

I read this book cover to cover. The content is excellent. There are lots of new ideas throughout the book on saving money in the grocery store you won’t find in typical woman’s magazine. The book was well worth the money and more. I have saved $100’s of dollars since applying the knowledge I learned in this book.

I am grateful I bought this book. I knew a lot of traditional methods of saving money on groceries including clipping coupons, finding great grocery deals, etc. This book covered a non-traditional method on how to receive free groceries I had never heard before. The book is worth its weight in gold. I am grateful to the author for making this knowledge available to the general public.

Save your money…I have never felt the need to rate a book before but i got this tonight after it was recommended from the author. Majority of the pages are taken up with large pictures and large print, maybe to eat us space and bring it up to 90 pages. This is below the basics of coupons, the author tells you to buy post cards and mail them to the manufacturers asking for coupons that is the basis of the book. Oh, and to match up your coupons to the items on sale. Duh!!!! Get another book by another author.
